Barmedman is a village of the Bland Shire, and is situated 35 kilometres south east of West Wyalong. Barmedman is located at the half-way point en-route to Temora. With a population of 230 people, the community of Barmedman has much to offer in a variety of areas, which make it a great place to live or visit.
Barmedman is famous for the mineral pool, which originated from the flooding of the Barmedman goldmines by an underground stream in the 1880’s. The pool is situated on a four-hectare reserve, is run by locals and is said to have some healing properties due to its high mineral content. The surrounds provide for a camping, great picnic spot and offers a barbeque, toilets and change facilities.
There are a number of businesses in the township, which are locally owned and operated; they provide a range of services including restaurant and entertainment facilities.
There is a variety of sporting and community organisations and they are always looking to welcome new members. The Barmedman Modified Tractor Pull is a great community event that attracts a crowd of 3000 and is held in October annually.
The town also has a school, which cater for infants and primary school aged children, with bus service available to Temora and West Wyalong for secondary students. There are also a number of other children’s services such as playgroup and family support services.
