Working for Council
To be considered for work with Council, including projects aligned to recent major State and Federal Government grants, contractors and trades need to supply Council with all relevant documentation, including the relevant Insurance, WHS documents, all your relevant SWMS, WHS Management systems and licences. Bland Shire Council uses Donesafe as our contractor data base system. You will receive notification from Donesafe requesting you provide relevant documents including insurances and workers details.
Only compliant contractors, staff and sub-contractors who have attended a Bland Shire Council WHS induction are permitted to work on Council projects or sites.
Council is committed to working with you to assist you to become a compliant contractor/tradesperson.
Compliant Contractor - To be a compliant contractor the following requirements must be met, all documents must be provided and must remain current – You will be able to upload these onto the Donesafe system
a. Certificate of Business Registration;
b. Current Public Liability Insurance (min $20,000,000)
c. Current Professional Indemnity Insurance (if applicable);
d. Current Workers Compensation Insurance / Personal Injury Insurance (if self- employed with no additional employees);
e. Government Licence or Permit where required (e.g. White cards, licences, electrical work, plumbing work, etc.);
f. WHS Management Plan (or an outline of safe work practices and WHS Policies and Procedures relevant to the work to be performed); and
g. Warranty terms and conditions
h. Any other documents requested
i. All workers must have completed the BSC WHS Induction
j. Follow all BSC PPE requirements
Contractor Induction Process
No contractor/tradesperson can be engaged by Council until all relevant and up to date documentation is received and the contractor/tradesperson and any relevant staff/sub contractors have attended a Council induction.
Contractors will be asked to provide copies of all relevant licences, insurance information, certificates of competency, traffic control tickets, trade certificates and White Cards when attending the Council WHS Induction.
This is a general WHS Induction and does not attempt to provide all of the information. For further information it is recommended that you visit the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
Your Bland Shire Council contact will arrange a WHS Induction prior to you or your staff commencing any work.
Important information
Council does not guarantee that as a result of being accepted as a preferred supplier that the Contractor will receive any work or continuity of work.
Council will engage suppliers from the preferred suppliers list on the overall value to Council based on price, availability and quality of work.
Council reserves the right to call for and accept additional preferred suppliers for the provision of Trades and services during the year.
Council may remove a supplier from the preferred suppliers list.
