2025 Bland Shire Australia Day Award Nominees Announced

Bland Shire Council is proud to announce the nominees for the 2025 Australia Day Awards, celebrating the outstanding contributions of local individuals, teams, and groups.
Bland Shire Mayor Brian Monaghan said the inspiring list of 22 nominees represent the very best of our Shire - people who dedicate themselves to making a difference, fostering connection, and building a stronger, more vibrant community "I am incredibly proud to congratulate the nominees for the 2025 Bland Shire Australia Day Awards. Whether through their leadership, community service, or sporting achievements, each nominee has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the values we hold dear,” Mayor Monaghan said.
“On behalf of Bland Shire Council, I encourage everyone in our Shire to join us on Australia Day to celebrate their achievements and the spirit of community that makes Bland Shire such a special place to live."
The impressive list of local individuals and community groups were nominated for their outstanding contributions to the Shire and their sport by their fellow residents in recognition of their selfless service, commitment, and achievements across various fields. Some nominees have even received multiple nominations, further highlighting their significant impact within our community.
This year’s nominations span six categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Young Sportsperson of the Year, Community Service Award and Community Event of the Year.

Please join us in celebrating these remarkable individuals and groups at the Bland Shire Australia Day Awards on Sunday, 26 January 2025, at Barnado Park, West Wyalong. The celebrations will kick off with a free community breakfast at 7am, followed by the award presentations at 8am.
